Appearing gradually within several minutes on a small, blank ATC parchment paper, is my interpretation (perhaps incorrectly influenced by Renaissance era artists) of an angel making music, praising the Lord, announcing “fear not”, reflecting God’s will and purposes for salvation and life.

My search found 282 Bible results for “angel” from the English Standard Version. 

What do angels do?

Angels understand the fears and needs of humans. Fallen angels are evil and their leader, Satan, is the father of lies; even so, they are under the authority of God. Learn more about kinds of angel activity. There are multitudes of good messenger angels which tell truth, shine light and more!

Announcing the first coming of our vulnerable, incarnate God.

But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:20-21

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:9-11

Seeing.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 18:10

Strengthening.

And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. Luke 22:43

Guarding.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11

Fighting.

Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. Revelation 12:7-8

Gathering with the Lord’s great cloud of witnesses, waiting for the second coming of the Son of Man.

Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.” But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. Hebrews 12:21-23

Why do you thank?

Were you trained you to say, “thank you” by your mom, a teacher, or someone who loves you? Have you thanked your parents, children, loved ones and those you don’t know? When, where and how often do you give thanks? Do you think it’s a good idea to thank in-person, by face-time, text, telephone, voicemail, email and handwriting on paper to be delivered by post mail? Have you enjoyed regularly spending time together with others, prayerfully thanking the good Lord for his steadfast love? Which emotions do you feel when someone thanks you? Are you tolerant when someone forgets to thank you or when they take actions which hurt you? Have you been surprised by gratitude expressed by someone who received your thank you note?

Twice blessed, two or more are touched during times of introducing artist trading cards to friends and family, young and elderly. We may thank our Creator for designing us to take on the challenge of creativity and for time spent in social moments.

I’m passionate about telling of tender-loving Jesus. After all the transgressions, tests and trials of this temporary life transform into the sinless new heavens and new earth, I truly want to see or meet you there in that tranquility. Do you want to prayerfully tip-off people about Truth? Talk about the power of the Holy Spirit who opens eyes to see, mouths to talk, minds to listen, learn and remember the gift of the faith in Christ is for us to have present and eternal blessings. No matter how touchy the subject feels, it’s thoughtfully telling to kindly inform people that forever is infinity, either way—with or without Christ. Those who’ve chosen to turn away from the faith that saves will be taken into the terror of everlasting torment.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

The Spirit’s true guidance—the Word and Sacrament’s forgiveness and encouragement—supplies trusting contrite hearts filled with thanksgiving for Our Father’s mercy in life strengthened by grace in Christ.

Do you have the gift of an eagle-eye?

Bald eagles soar through my neighborhood. Their wide spread wings glide gracefully; then suddenly, they take a high-speed dive toward the lake to catch fish they’ve spotted from high altitudes. 

How clearly can humans really see? When we think we see the big picture, we need to be reminded there’s more to it which is deeper, wider and higher than we can capture. The Creator in control of all situations is God; we are not.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

The Holy Spirit opens eyes to Truth received by the faith. Only in Christ are we justified and sanctified in the sight of the Father who sees every nation, under God, through His Son. The Word’s insight is given by grace for strength to turn away from fear and darkness toward light, forgiveness, confidence and comfort.

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:30-31

Rather than complain…

Remember, anger may lead us to isolate ourselves. If we try to stay afloat on our own log, without offering or receiving grace, eventually we’ll sink. Survival depends on God’s Word. Jesus says,

“Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.” Luke 6:41-42

“Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Vanity, vexation, vapor…

…vine, veil, vengeance, virgin, voice, vow, vessel—various “V” words are found in a valuable gift from our invincible Creator who desires a vulnerable connection in His love. The powerful Holy Spirit gives vision within God’s Word to believe and be saved, validated by Christ’s victorious resurrection. By the gift of faith, verified sin via contrition is void when God the Father views His children through His Son who is the peace of those who trust Truth. The Bible is volumes of books! I’m thankful for a shorter book that helps me, anticipates and answers my questions in applicable verses. I’ve heard and memorized verses in various versions of Scripture. Thinking of the letter V, here’s one that popped to mind from a version used years ago. Remembering important repetitive words that trigger spellcheck!

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24, King James Bible (KJV)

Now, I’m into the English Standard Version (ESV) within my study Bible which parallels very similarly to other variations of the same verse:

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24 ESV

“Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. John 5:24 NASB

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24 NIV

“I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life. John 5:24 HCSB

“It’s urgent that you listen carefully to this: Anyone here who believes what I am saying right now and aligns himself with the Father, who has in fact put me in charge, has at this very moment the real, lasting life and is no longer condemned to be an outsider. This person has taken a giant step from the world of the dead to the world of the living. John 5:24 MSG

It’s free and easy to hear or read verses and compare versions of God’s Word online. 

5:24 passed from death to life. Scripture teaches two “resurrections” (see note, Rv 20:6). Aug: “Hence a resurrection does take place now, and men pass from a death to a life; from the death of infidelity to the life of faith; from the death of falsehood to the life of truth; from the death of iniquity to the life of righteousness. … The Lord Jesus, then, was willing to make known to us a resurrection of the dead before the resurrection of the dead’ (NPNF1 7:125). The Lutheran Study Bible

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek. Translations vary sightly, yet the original voice of Jesus points out His Truth always remains without variation.

“I was caught off-guard, however, after our first harvest last fall. As we were enjoying a tasty lamb stew, my then three-year-old son looked up from the table and asked, ‘Why did we have to kill the lamb?’ In a rare moment of clarity, I somehow managed to answer: ‘Because we only live if something else dies for us. All food that we eat died for us so that we can live. What’s nice about ice?

 

Are you imposed by illness, imagining intervention, ignored, insulted, infested by insects, or in a self-inflicted meltdown?

Have you ever wondered how long cold or warmth will last? The off-and-on slow drips of an icicle may have a purpose: to remind us to reflect on God’s steady patience—a fruit of the Spirit. At times, ice helps relieve pain and aids healing; yet, other times heat works best. Gradual repetitive nature—such as the transition of February to August—indicates that each step is a gift to cherish, yet not idolize or immortalize. An individual’s conception, infancy into infinity, each season of life interacts with the next, ignited by the faith which impacts incredible improvement of integrity.

Life’s order of creation isn’t in human control.

Winter adjusts to summer by way of spring. Icy snow thaws to streams of water washing away dirt that’s been transformed to mud. Thankfully, the mercy of our interceding Creator has made everything beautiful in its time for a purpose (Ecclesiastes 3). I pray you invest time to immerse yourself in the infallible Word which will increase the faith and influence how you intelligently impress its importance to illuminate others.

Are you procrastinating until Tuesday or Thursday?

 

Why wait—two, ten or twenty years—as though there’s no limit to God’s patience?

How much longer we’re given is a mystery; so, today is precious time to abide in Truth. 

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32

Trouble, tears, trials, temptations—all are known by Truth.

One day [moment] at a time, Truth keeps me trusting that my life depends on the Transfigured One who was humbly born to be tortured by crucifixion, buried to crush Satan, risen to ascend to heaven and is currently my Advocate, intimately praying for me. The constant unchanging Truth lives within all who live by the faith which saves. Jesus abides in us as we remain in the Word. In Truth, the Holy Spirit holds us accountable and focused on the Creator Savior. As I drew pictures and wrote about the book of John, plus all the other books of the Bible—I learned the Truth miraculously grows the faith. I pray you’ll discover, grow, then tell more people.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34
