Luke Bible Sketches

Questions or answers?

How can loving visits and conversations effectively add value to relationships?

God’s creative blessing of childbirth is a process in life which He chose to become part of.

Elizabeth had been about five or six months along when her virgin cousin Mary miraculously became pregnant with Jesus who was conceived by God to save us! After a long journey our Savior traveled in the womb of His mother Mary, they finally arrived at Elizabeth’s home and their conversation began. Elizabeth’s own unborn baby John (who would become John the Baptist) leaped within her womb at the sound of Mary’s greeting! By sense of Who Mary was carrying, Elizabeth’s important question, “why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” applies to all humanity! Mary answered with a song! Blessed cousins Elizabeth and Mary were filled with the Holy Spirit. Their concerns were cared for as they celebrated life, by faith, in each yes and amen. They experienced miracles, believed and trusted the Lord. Mary’s visit lasted about three months. [listen to more about the visit]

Luke 1:41-43

In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? Luke 1:39-43

Why should Jesus come for any of us?

Still today we see conception and childbirth as types of miracles of life beginning in an imperfect place. Each and every one of us needs a Savior from sin, death and the power of the devil, whether we admit it or not. Glory to Jesus who is The Answer given for us! He willingly, humbly, and perfectly obeyed our Heavenly Father’s loving purpose so that each of us may trust His work for our salvation.

Before and after birth, the Maker of all things provides everything we need. Wondrously, we were fed through a cord that connected us to nutrients from our mother. Strength came to tiny muscles by swimming and kicking within mom’s womb. If she went to church, we went along and our tiny ears heard hymns and the spoken Word of God flowing through her body and spirit. Medical teams with God-gifted skills began guiding our transition from cord to breast to solid food.

Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you. Psalm 71:6

Ever since the fall from perfection, everyone ever conceived (except Jesus) has inherited sin. All newborns and people of any age need to be rid of it, but we cannot accomplish that on our own. We can’t even claim or decide to love our Creator on our own without faith that is given to us by nutrients we receive from the Word of God. God commands Baptism for all people (Matt. 28:19) for forgiveness of sin, rescue from death and the devil, and to bring salvation to all who believe. Unbelievers will be condemned (Mark 16:16). God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth (1 Tim. 3:4). Baptism is the life-giving, grace-filled process of receiving water in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5-8). The Holy Spirit fills us with desire to follow and trust the Word which answers our questions about the beautiful Light given to and for us. An adult’s greatest work is raising infants up to study God’s Word. Praying, holding dearly the precious promise of eternal life given by the merit of Jesus, we cling to the saving Word for spiritual growth. Throughout our lifetime of repentance, dying to sin in Christ’s righteousness and purity, we look forward to be raised as He was raised (Romans 6:4)! Learn more about the baptism of Jesus, how it is tied to His death, resurrection, and ascension in which He blesses His people forever.

Can we expect to have an intimate relationship while pretending to know what is on another person’s heart, without asking and listening?

Giving someone a great (or weak) answer, repetitively, isn’t the best way to communicate if a question wasn’t asked. When we’re stuck, wondering how to get unstuck, we do well to remember the onus of our own sin does not fall on anyone else.

The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. Ezekiel 18:20
Our Creator knit each individual together in our mother’s wombs without a cookie cutter. We’re created to think and take personal responsibility as capable adults. Sin tempts us to get out of these duties. We ought to pray, Lord, have mercy on me, whenever we’ve fallen for temptations. We each have marvelous (and terrific) differences. One person needs help and another person is equipped to help (if the connection can be made). One commonality we do have is that each of us are loved by God. Rather than being the harshly rigid answer-person, why not pray first, then ask a number of questions such as what is on your heart? or how can I pray for you? to discover what’s beyond ourselves?

We are created to bless one another which, ideally, occurs when a mutual desire to understand each other exists. In a sinful world, we can expect people refusing to grow in God’s love will abuse of His gift of relationship as it was designed to be full of grace. All humans lack complete goodness. Each of us have a degree of selfishness which we may not even recognize in ourselves. Emotional, spiritual, mental and physical illnesses weigh us down, more than necessary, when we leave God out of the picture or give Him only a tiny space in the canvas of our lives. It’s quite possible one or more people will curse you or abuse you because you trust Christ and maybe they don’t very much, or at all.

Beautiful restoration happens as honest prayerful faith receives Jesus’s blood, sweat, and tears He gladly paints into each of our messy work-in-progress lives.

God cherishes each one of us as His own beloved children when He sees us connected to His Son. Jesus took all kinds of human abuse, even crucifixion, then victoriously rose from death and sits with Our Father Almighty. He teaches, mediates and gives peace in the middle of our troubles and failings. Christians gladly receive grace, mercy, forgiveness, protection, comfort and friendships; plus, Jesus says we have the benefit to pray for those who mistreat us. Praying for someone is a wonderful way to love them. Christ is full of compassion for those who trust Him to remove fear concerning curses, abuses and all difficulties of this life including illness, even death.

“Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace” Luke 8:48

Luke 7:50

And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” Luke 7:50
And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” Luke 7:50

Can you relate to the faithful, tearful woman who loved Jesus and came to Him?

Jesus didn’t put this sinful woman down, make a scene, use power to control her, or abuse her in any way. He noticed this woman’s gratitude, her love that came from being forgiven much. Rather than pointing out disappointment over her many sins, Jesus held her up and praised her sorrow, honesty and actions. He was delighted to pardon her. Her situation was utilized to teach the proud, outwardly religious, critical man about contrition, faith and the fruits of repentance. Jesus doesn’t oppress, belittle, tend to be harsh, punish, hurt, and refuse kindness; He forgives, encourages, and gives peace. What a tender example of genuine love!

“Human beings can destroy the body but not the soul.”—Lutheran Study Bible on Luke 12:4

Luke 12:6-7

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7

Who do you trust?

If you’ve ever been condescendingly told that you were worth nothing, that you cannot be forgiven or someone’s love won’t be shared with you unless you fulfill that person’s certain conditions and desires—ouch, that hurts badly. Let go of those false words by looking to Jesus who sweat blood and poured out His compassion for you at the cross to protect you from lies. Well-recorded in the Bible by several witnesses, Jesus uses simple illustrations to express Our Heavenly Father’s love and the incredible value He gives sinners whom He redeems. If you wonder what you are truly worth, look at your Creator and the price He paid to save you and everyone. Jesus’s grace is sufficient for mercy and goodness.

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 18:9–14

The teaching of Jesus was, is, and always will be true.

The Word is Truth, Wisdom and Creator of all things. Not to be ignored, He promises to return and is making all things new. The Almighty God warns us not to worry or be dulled by concerns of the world; instead, worship, pray, and watch yourself so that you are prepared for the unexpected Last Day. Today, the Word is still spoken and is growing among those who hear and share it. If you need a boost, or if you’ve never looked into being built up by the Word, please, get into it because your life depends on it. I pray you will discover how connections with Christians help you through difficulties of this life and point you to certain hope in the everlasting future God wants for us together with Him.

Luke 23:26-43

And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him. But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’  For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?” Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.” One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:26-43

Jesus desires relationship, knows us well and prays for us.

Jesus walked with and asked His friends questions as a way to teach. He was and still is the perfect listener. On our journey with Truth, we are gently reminded us of His love and God-given time. We can ask ourselves if we are taking opportunity to be curious about sins of prodigality, pride and hypocrisy. During this period of grace, we may evaluate ourselves as the sinners we are, repent and come to know Christ’s humility, generosity, mercy and kindness. True worship is given to us for forgiveness and to strengthen faith as we receive Close Communion. We sing praises and thank the Lord by working and sharing.

And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. Luke 22:19

Salvation comes through the human person Jesus who also is all-powerful, all-knowing and everywhere God. It is finished. The destruction and the power of Satan will never hold back forgiven believers from eternally loving Jesus in paradise.

“Some days seem long though life is brief. And death is waiting like a thief. When vision fades and dreams go dry, we will on unseen things rely.” —from an excellent hymn: I AM Forever WHO I AM

Amos Bible Sketch

How can there be justice in my mess?

No matter what my or your mess is, Truth defeats lies of the devil, the world, and our fallen human nature.

Righteousness is promised in the Word

God’s justification is where His peace enters the life of a sinner in the form of a divine gift. God creates faith to believe in Jesus. Thankfully, He knows us better than we know ourselves and His love for us doesn’t change upon circumstance or His Divine Knowledge of how depraved we are.

“For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins” Amos 5:12

The difficult things God allows are for His purpose to bring people to contrition, confession, and change for their own (or another person’s) present or eternal good. In an act of grace, His Spirit supports people through the process of confession and life of faith. Still, God’s good grace is a gift which can be received or rejected.

“Let love be genuine; abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.” Romans 12:9 read the chapter

We cannot save ourselves from the messes we make, nor those we protest.

Jesus died and was raised to forgive and clear us from our disordered position. All who receive His righteousness grow in knowledge, strength, trust, and joy! His perfect work heals and saves—it blesses and reverses the curse for the life to come.

Our Creator tenderly and constantly is doing reconciling work in our lives.

The earth’s groaning in earthquakes and hardships are reminders to repent and turn to God for mercy. Beware of complacency. We do not deserve anything, yet forgiveness is made possible by the powerful, everflowing stream of Christ’s compassionate understanding, love and grace. His Spirit encourages us to serve Him and others by blessing us with words at the right moments—opportunities God provides for us to share this life-saving Good News. In gratitude, we share with others and cherish others who connect with us regarding the Gospel.

Amos 5:24

But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Amos 5:24
But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Amos 5:24

God wants justice for the oppressed.

Injustices are constant in the world. Integrity is doing what God says when we allow Him to guide us.

“God’s people are to produce justice continually and swiftly, like the flow of a river. Just as plants and animals need a steady supply of water to survive, so also human communities can flourish only when justice and righteousness prevail.” The Lutheran Study Bible

God’s commands are to show our need for Him; also, to help us love Him and each other. He wants us to have right relationships. He will take actions to correct injustice. God confronts evil for His purposes to have mercy on us and restore us to walk in newness of life.

God and God Alone
by Steve Green

God and God alone created all these things we call our own

From the mighty to the small, the Glory in them all is God’s and God’s alone

God and God alone reveals the truth of all we call unknown

and the best and worst of man won’t change the Master’s plan it’s God’s and God’s alone

God and God alone is fit to take the universe’s throne

Let everything that lives reserve its truest praise for God and God alone

Listen to a Bible study discussion about how God works through means, even uncomfortable ones.

Read a Christian perspective on the decision by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) Dobbs v. Jackson reversal of Roe v. Wade, stating the Constitution does not confer a right to abortion and returning the issue to the states. This positive action makes pro-life faithful people thankful for potential measures to protect lives of the most vulnerable. We pray individuals and states would step up and take responsibility to protect unborn babies.

Compare apples to oranges, people are like fruit salad

When life throws you lemons [pray] make lemonade and “chill” with a bowl of fruit salad.

Apple and Orange
Apple and Orange

Apples and oranges are different, just as people are unique individuals.

If it were possible for an apple to convert an orange to change in order to become like itself the apple, most of the juice would need to be sucked out of the orange. When “Mr./Ms. Know-it-all” pushes me to “become him/her”, frustration sets in, causing loss of concentration, positive energy, creativity and ambition to do things that work best for me. I cannot prevent his/her insistence. Human nature leads each of us believe our own way of thinking is superior to others—we long to hang on to our individuality.

A quick prayer and an optimistic outlook helps me bite my tongue when subjected to behaviors of controlling personalities. I do not attend every argument I am invited to. Occasionally, my task being inspected can be transferred to him/her so it can be “done right” and I can move on to other things. In situations where how a task is carried out really doesn’t matter, I might as well take advantage of opportunities to learn something new and tackle the challenge of doing it “his/her way”. We’re not competitors—we’re on the same team! I do accept invitations to learn new tricks. It will take a while to catch-on, it may be less efficient than ways I know well; yet, different methods do make sense sometimes. I’m willing to pack in my brain, new (sometimes useless) information. Simultaneously, I’m determined to remember and maintain use of skills I am comfortable with for their proven efficiency. Once “enlightened”, discernment to choose the best option, based on all the variables of a situation, is necessary. All this effort may decelerate the process of completing the very tasks which were hoped to accelerate, but perhaps it is a test of perseverance.

I value opinions of others even though I do not always appreciate or agree with them. Alternately, I hope for mutual respect; however, I must be patient when it isn’t granted. Certain tasks can be accomplished in a variety of ways through the use of technology, equipment and software which have been specifically designed to meet the preferences of people with a broad range of artistic, eye-hand coordination and cognitive skills. Discernment in handling issues varies based on the matter and the level of virtues blessed with.

The happiest couples (or associates) never have the same character and talents—they have the best understanding of their differences. I say, let an apple be an apple, let an orange be an orange! We are a diverse variety of God’s creation, tossed together like fruit salad. The recipe calls us to allow His Spirit to stir us so we become something amazing.
But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. …If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. 1 Corinthians 12:18,26
Bananas and Lemon
Bananas and Lemon

Lemons and bananas compliment each other unawares.

“When life throws you lemons, make lemonade” is an axiom about optimism and resilience when things are bad. Squeeze a lemon—dunk sliced bananas and chopped apples in its juice for protection from turning soft and brown. A sour person, however caustic or acrid, may actually have my best interests in mind and care about me (especially if it benefits him/her in some way). Imagination is detrimental when it is used to assume that others are against me. When I resist imagining negative intentions, I don’t need to take on a defensive attitude. A peer once told me, “you must have a heart of steel” regarding a situation she was imagining for me. When another person’s sour attitude is shoved in my face, I become temporarily shaken, but by the grace of God, I let it bounce off and try to forget it—that’s when a poor memory serves me well! Annoyed by the behavior, I still care and have hope for the person. Everyone has bad moments (or days). Some may not even realize they’re rude if they are immature or have not learned social graces. When I offer “lemons” the benefit-of-the-doubt, a calming peace allows me to pull positives from ugly situations. I push myself to seek ways to grow through adversity. Amazing is the power of a humble spirit open to critique! Someone driven to control me may be seeking a power trip, but oh well—it might provide him/her with insight to the Spirit of humility as a witness to my response!
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4
[I’m adding this note, years after this post was published. Please take time to click this link: Whole Lotta Squeezing Goin’ On regarding the lemonade phrase. Be comforted and understand that God’s Word promises that He’s not sitting idly by, but is with us acting on our behalf through our trials. The pressure to make lemonade doesn’t fall on us as if we’re the one doing all the squeezing.]

Watermelon
Watermelon

Watermelon served as dessert for dinner brought out a terrifying imaginary picture. Humorous in an adult perspective, it was a childhood lesson on teasing and the meaning of the word gullible.

When I was a child, I was teasingly told that if I swallowed a watermelon seed, watermelons would grow out of my ears. I found out everyone cannot always be trusted, but to honor truth and learn from wise people. Watermelon contains annoying seeds that need to be spit out in order to fully enjoy the thirst quenching qualities of the refreshing fruit. Likewise, annoying behaviors get in the way of positive relationships, so it is important to focus on separating the bad from the good. I try to look past people’s irritating “bad seeds” in order to see and appreciate their virtuous qualities. I seek to plant healthy Christian “good seeds” of faith to help others grow. My favorite fruit salad is made by scooping the watermelon out of its shell to create a bowl that holds a variety of fruits together. No one is perfect. We learn from each other and share knowledge. We scoop each other out of our shells. Our shells hold us together.

Cantaloupe
Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe or muskmelons have a hard, scaly, tough rind.

I need tough skin when others poke with rejection, probe with rude remarks, refuse to listen to (or understand) reason, deny apologies, focus on my (confessed) imperfections and decline my love. Bullish behavior is associated with spiritual immaturity. Everyone sins, including those who know better. It is part of life on earth. Like cantaloupe’s thick skin, the ability to confess and repent of my own sin comes with the gift of faith. The suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for my sake, offers forgiveness. His sacrifice assures hope and keeps hurtful words and actions from damaging my soft inner soul.

Green Grapes
Green Grapes

Grapes which are not spoiled, are versatile—fresh, fermented or aged.

Rotten grapes need to be picked off and thrown away to prevent their bad taste from spreading to the fresh fruit and spoil the whole bunch or ruin the entire salad. This process reminds me of Baptism which is God’s command for us. Like washing fresh grapes, through water and Word, we are given the free gift of faith which trusts Him. I could turn away and refuse to trust and grow in the Word; but faith will always be there and it is new every day I receive it. Living in faith is a constant challenge. It isn’t glamorous or understood by those who reject it. Faith helps me see the bad grapes in myself—through repentance it offers grace, forgiveness, freedom and the certainty of eternal salvation.
“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4
Out of thanksgiving for the opportunity to live in peace, faith helps me become active, productive and share Good News.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:17-18
Dehydrated grapes are raisins—wonderful in trail mix snack, Thanksgiving turkey dressing and many recipies. Wine is made with grapes through fermentation, improving with age. Wine is mentioned a couple hundred times in the Bible. The most significant reference being all about the blood of Jesus Christ in The Lord’s Supper / Holy Communion / The Sacrament of the Altar.
My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 7:1-3
strawberries
Strawberries

Strawberry flavor depends on the climate and soil where they are planted.

When I was a young girl, I picked fresh strawberries from the patch on the rich soil at my parent’s farm. After filling an ice cream pail full, we’d rinse them, take out the stem and serve them in a variety of ways. My parents planted seeds of faith and provided the fertile benefits of devotional readings, church and Sunday school.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Pineapple
Pineapple

Pineapple has a prickly surface. People with a prickly exterior naturally emit negative tension vibes.

People may be cold and non responsive to other’s attempts to be kind and cordial. We are often are willing to share criticism, but nothing positive. When I’m under someone’s critical magnifying glass, I suddenly become clumsy and my heart races as though it’s being pumped up like a beach ball receiving pressure from a stabbing knife. No one is immune to falling into some degree of this gloomy nature from time to time. By the power of the Holy Spirit I recognize it in myself and seek to resist it. Receiving God’s help, I take a step back before responding to an irksome situation—I count to ten when I become a victim under the attack of someone possessing this personality. The same Spirit tells me when someone’s bark is worse than their bite, so I can have peace when I’m barked at and remain calm when I’m bitten. Satan feeds me crap and wants me to have hurt feelings, become insecure, resentful, revengeful and allow negative anger to take hold and grow roots in my life. Wisdom, tenacity and courage are abilities achieved when I apply the healing balm of God’s Word heard in church and through devotional Bible study.
A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11
Blueberries
Blueberries

Blueberries are full of healthy antioxidants and provide beautiful contrasting color to fruit salad.

As a child, I took a trip to visit my eldest sister in northern Minnesota. We ventured into the forest to pick tender, wild blueberries. The delicious bounty returned to my sister’s kitchen and together, we created blueberry pie. Berries are among the first plants to regenerate in areas recently cleared of trees or recovering from a forest fire. Like berries that grow again after their habitat has changed or following natural disaster, people bear each-others’ burdens. With prayer, patience and gentle support, we share life’s difficulties. Sad events bring about comfort, encouraging words and hugs. We trust each other and give thanks for faithful, honest advice. Blessings of laughter come with funny times. Love, kindness and joy fills our lives with sweet deliciousness. These are the fruit of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  Galatians 5:22-23
Fruit Salad in Watermelon Bowl
Fruit Salad in Watermelon Bowl

Watermelon Bowl Fruit Salad

Mother’s Recipe

This is my favorite summer treat for picnics, parties and potlucks! Chill and wash everything (including melons) before cutting.
  • Watermelon, stab zig-zag pattern with a long knife, then split open.
  • Cantalope, cut in half, discard seeds. Use a melon baller to scoop out balls of fruit. Scrape out the rough edges of the watermelon interior—set upside-down to drain rind to use for bowl (top can be used as cover). Honeydew melon, optional.
  • Pineapple, cut in chunks (or use canned, drain).
  • Green grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries, cut the stems out and slice large ones in half.
  • Apples, chop.
  • Bananas, peel, slice.
  • Lemon, squeeze for juice to coat bananas and apples before adding them to the salad (or use bottled).
Gently toss—chill if fruits were room temperature when starting—serve immediately. Bananas and strawberries will begin to get soft in a day or two, so you might want to find and eat them before storing leftovers in the refrigerator.
